From the antiquity, the fountains beautified the towns and gave a relaxing air to the places. They usually were placed in the centre of the towns, in the markets or where the citizens used to gather. Baia Sprie is such a place. In the second part of the 19th century a beautiful ormolu fountain was built near southern part the Roman Catholic Church. It was called the Stoll’s Fountain after mayor’s name of that time.
In the middle of the fountain there is a goddess of antiquity carrying a ceramic pot on her shoulder.
